MUSIC

I love discovering new music and finding out about older music that I never knew existed. I have recently found out that trading music with friends is a great way to really get to know that person. Afterall, I feel you can almost completely figure out a person by their taste in music. And if you have no taste in music then you suck and we can't be friends. I am kidding... well halfway kidding.

I have been told that I only like "slit your wrist" music. Which is mostly true, but I am trying to branch out to some new fun stuff. My only issue with discovering new stuff is that I like to investigate one or two artists at a time. I get really overwhelmed if I have a bunch of new stuff to listen to.

In the past few months, I have been trading tunes with several people and it has been really fun. I have received an USB full of music, CD mixes, whole albums on CD, and I recently joined dropbox and made several others join too. If you don't know about it, Dropbox is a website where you can upload music and share files with others whether it be music, movies, or pictures.
I believe there is a space limit but if you pay a little I think you can get more space.

Here is a list of some of my favorite trade offs lately

Radiohead

TAG- music compilation - 3 cds where each song starts with either T, A, or G

Angus and Julia Stone - from my downunder friend

Cold War Kids - from Dougie

Several CDs - from Justin when I went to Vegas for the Black keys

The entire Beatles collection - from Chris

Unique Music Podcast with Will and Chris

I tend to email my friend Jacob every few month and get a few new Artists to look up

My friend Lindsay recently visited and put some great new stuff on my computer

Now there is spotify with unlimited access to music and you can see what your friends like too.

I love music!! That is why it was the theme to my going away party in Albuquerque.
I love discovering new stuff. Please send me any new/old music you want to share with me.

Peace--Love--Music

I am in love....

... with my new record player.

I bought my mom a record player for Christmas this year. I never grew up with a record player and I have never owned a record in my life (if you don't count the Chipmucks Christmas vinyl I had).

So I ordered a record player from Amazon last week. It is a Crosley Mini and I love it. It is small and folds up for easy storage. It has built in speakers but it can also be hooked to additional speakers which I have done.

So far the only record I own is "For Emma, forever ago" by Bon Iver. I am waiting for Otis Redding and Taj Mahaj to come in the mail.
I am so excited to shop and search for new and old records and build an amazing collection.

In a world where everything is digital, it is nice to take a step back and appreciate where music started. I enjoy holding a record/cover in my hand and admire the album art in person and not on a computer screen.
